how do I get the old tip off my pool stick so I can replace it??

pop it off and glue on the new one

cut it off with a sharp knife(be careful),sand it down with some abrasive paper,then glue the new one on

l use a utility knife & a small cutting board underneath it. Try to cut as close to the ferule as possible, without actually cutting into the ferule. You can then sand down the end, they make a sander specifically for this, so that it is level. Remember to sand the bottom of the tip before u glue it on, or u wo not get a good bond & the tip could pop off first time u use it. Use a good quality super glue, one that is thick not thin & runny. again they have a few that r made specifically for this.

Honestly, if you are at all serious about shooting quality pool, and have never replaced a tip before or do not have all the required tools to do so, just take it in to have it done. There is more to it then just popping it off and gluing one back on. You have to sand both the Ferrell and tip, then once the tip is dried it needs to be cut down to fit it right. For real man, take it to a repairman & have it replaced. Preferably someone with a wood lathe. There r places that use tipper machines & they r okay but the lathe works a lot better. I've seen ferrules get scratched up & even cracked when they use the tipper machines, that is why l do not care much for that method. The jacoby guy is right , it is not that simple , especially the first time. l do my own tips but l bought a top sander & a tool to center the tip on the ferrule. Without these it would be a real struggle. By the way l use a utility knife to cut off the old tip & super glue gel. The gel takes about 5 minutes to set up giving u a little time to center the tip.

take a razor blade to cut it off, then take the end of your ferruel and sand it smooth, be careful, make sure you sand it straight.

Take it to someone who knows how to put a new tip on. You need a cue tip sander before you put the new tip on if you want to do it right. l also highly advise using super glue gel
